It is a great time now to be up on the Downs with the Pride of Sussex, the county flower of Sussex in bloom.
And it is not just our county flower which is looking beautiful at the moment. Pyramidal orchids are in full flower and make a spectacular sight.
The picture of The Pride of Sussex with a Pyramidal Orchid was taken by me on Mount Caburn above Lewes on the July 1.
Pyramidal Orchids are especially beautiful to admire .
Look out also for grasshoppers chirping away adding to the songs of skylarks.
