Regarding your article, August 12th relating to the controversial sign displayed at the Bulldog pub in St. James Street, Brighton.
I totally agree with the adverse comments made. Yes, in my opinion it is unnecessary, offensive and discriminatory.
Years ago I worked as a barmaid in a very busy and popular pub in Brighton, where “all sorts” were welcomed.
There was no need to advertise the fact. It would not have enjoyed the popularity and success it did.
As for the Bulldog barman stating that “everyone is welcome to come in”. Having seen that notice I doubtful if anyone would want to.
