I see from The Argus that thanks to the Conservatives the final piece in the Greens’ jigsaw, the final nail in the coffin, is now in place – total gridlock for the whole of Brighton.
Every November the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run takes place.
Also known as the Emancipation Run it commemorates the Highway Act of 1896 which abolished the requirement for vehicles to be preceded by a man on foot (the requirement to also carry a red flag had already been abolished) and raised the speed limit from four to 14 mph.
Perhaps it is time to change the route to Eastbourne or Hastings?
But maybe The Greens like the fact that participants are not permitted to exceed an average speed of 20 mph.
In Brighton that is often an unattainable aspiration rather than a limit. The Greens have taken us back nearly 120 years.
