A disappointing result, as Albion suffered another home defeat in front of a healthy crowd.

It was a bitterly cold Saturday afternoon, but, as I walked into Withdean, I experienced something I hadn't for a while - an atmosphere.

Despite the freezing temperature, 6,461 turned out to see the game, a pleasant surprise given the opposition, but well done to all that came.

There was a good turnout from the Huddersfield faithful with around 250 making the long trip south, and, to be fair to them, they made a lot of noise throughout the game.

The main thing about the game was the official. Now I know everybody moans now and again about the referee, but he was appalling.

One of the linesmen was no better and missed at least three obvious offside decisions.

The referee also missed two raised fists on Anyinsah and Elphick and both went unpunished. When Huddersfield's impressive No. 17 was challenged by Thomson, he gave him a yellow card. It was a 50-50 ball in the air, but the player simulated that he was elbowed, which really got the crowd angry, and, as he left the pitch for treatment, he was booed by a large section of fans.

To be fair to the referee though he was not biased - he was poor for both teams!

With the half coming to a close, Virgo's pass back to Kuipers was badly timed and Huddersfield found themselves one-on-one with the keeper.

Unbelievably the referee blew for half time. Their players surrounded him and were going mad. I ask Alex Ferguson, who moans about referees all the time, to come and watch a League one game and he will see what bad refereeing is all about.

Brighton actually didn't play that badly, but the problem is their disorganised defence and poor midfield.

The game finished with a barrage of boos, but, to be honest, I think it was half at the referee and half at Adams. I think he deserves more time, but I'm starting to lose a bit of faith.

My player ratings: Kuipers 5; Whing 4; Elphick 5; Virgo 5; Richards 5; Anyinsah 6; Thomson 3; Johnson First half 2 Second half 7; Thornton 4; Murray 5; Forster 7; Fleetwood 5
