It’s official. Mad Men, the critically acclaimed television drama about an ad agency in the 1960s, has spawned a fashion fever which is sweeping the nation. The prim lady-like 1960’s pieces featured in the show are simply too hard to resist.

Rebecca Lu, Brighton-based textile designer and fresh graduate of Brighton University, was recently announced as the Texprint Print Winner 2010 as judged by Elena Alfani (director of accessories at Salvatore Ferragamo) and quite frankly, it's easy to see why.

If you have an important man in your life, whether it be a husband, boyfriend, father, brother, son or even a close male friend, they are bound to have been rambling on at great length about the World Cup at every opportunity that presents itself. And with the matches only just kicking off, World Cup-mania will soon be ready to reach fever pitch.

I'm very lucky to be off on my summer hols this week. A full seven days packed with sunshine, reading my favourite books on the beach, exploring the local area and sipping on the odd cocktail here and there. But although I might be bouncing off the walls with excitement at the thought of a week of fun in the sun, the thought of packing a week's worth of clothes for the beach trips, exploring, evening cocktails and just in case the weather might turn disastrous, is enough to turn in me into a quivering wreck.

Sometimes, nothing brightens your day quicker than slipping into one of this season's feminine floral or patterned pieces. Whether you go for the 'look at me' artistic prints or delicate ditsy florals are more your bag, watch your wardrobe blossom and bloom with the selection of gorgeous floral dresses, tops and skirts that are about at the moment.

The chilly sea-fog that keeps rolling into Brighton most afternoons this week is a little damp (not to mention spooky) but the weather in this part of Sussex is finally getting a lot milder. On my walk to work yesterday morning in the sunshine, I actually unzipped my coat, slid off my scarf and took off my gloves without the shivery consequences I would've faced just a few weeks ago.

Last year I got a Valentines card from ‘?’. I was annoyed that they didn’t put their hand up and admit to sending it. I was also a bit perturbed that they knew where I lived (down to post code) and actually spelt my name correctly. Bloody stalkers.

Being dumped is horrible, especially if you don’t see it coming. It could be compared to crossing the road, having looked left and right and being quite confident that there was nothing coming, only to step out in front of a big red bus, that has no intention of stopping.

Alright, so its not a massively fashion orientated start to the new year, but I was utterly shocked to see the pictures of the young girls in The Daily Mail this morning (take a look at the url if you dare http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1242198/Youre-going-dressed-like-Snow-joke-did-.html).
All I want for Christmas.... is a 1980's jumper, a patent leather clutch and some new Mary-Janes please.

I'm feeling festive. We've just had our office party, my advent calendar only has only got ten more doors left to open (in truth it maybe a few less than that due to a chocolate-frenzy on Friday) and i've started wrapping my Christmas presents. So what better time to have a little look at the festive fashion in all the stores at the moment....

I hate Facebook. Every day I am on it. Oh the irony. You can see everything and know everything about someone’s life just from Facebook. I have literally bumped into people that I have never met before but know all about their exploits, through a mutual friend’s pictures of them on Facebook.

I heart fancy dress. I love any excuse to dress up and pretend to be a superhero, animal or cartoon character, so naturally one of the things that makes the party season we are now in so special for me is the fact that everyone really goes to town with their themed costumes.

Tonight Brighton's newest model agency BM Models glamourously launches itself into the East Sussex fashion market with a VIP evening at TABLE from 7pm. My Jenny Packham dress is freshly back from the dry cleaners and my black peep-toes have just been re-heeled (the shoe-guy next to Waitrose on Western Road is a magician) so I do believe I'm all set to go canapé hunting.

As summer brings with it a deluge of music festivals, half the fun is getting fully involved with the 'festival fashion'. As much as die-hard festival goers would love to protest this, with a traditional view that music festivals are purely about the bands, the performance and the undoubted love of music, it's undeniable that since Kate Moss stepped through the gates of Glastonbury in her hotpant, waistcoat and welly combo two summers ago, that she turned standing in a muddy field into a fashion event. Jeans and a t-shirt just ain't gonna cut it these days.

Have you ever been on a date with someone, only for them to deny it to your friends? I have.
If you are now cringing, thinking ‘that’s embarrassing’ and ‘why would anyone admit to something like that’, then that is fine. I am cringing ever so slightly too.

She's been listed as one to watch in 2009 by Vogue and she's invited me to her launch party in Brighton next Wednesday, so naturally I wanted to find out a little bit more about vintage fashion addict and local lady Natasha Bailie.

For those of you who get fairly annoyed with battling through Churchill Square in order to get your weekly fix of H&M goodies, you'll be relieved to know that a new, bigger store will be opening on (181-185) Western Road this week on Thursday.

I have been to a few weddings over the years. Some fill you with dread for their future and some, an overwhelming warmth, knowing that the two people that you have just watched declare the rest of their lives to each other, are more in love than you could have ever imagined.

Right guys and dolls, I'm now armed with a camera and i'm not afraid to use it. As the sun has officially come out in Brighton (hopefully for the next few weeks and months), i'll be on the prowl for some ultra-cool, chic and sexy outfits, as modelled by - you.

The Brighton Frocks theatrical catwalk show this weekend went without a hitch and if you were there in the audience on Friday night, I sincerely hope that you had a good time; I came away buzzing from the whole experience. It's actually hard to believe that something that took so many months to put together is finally over.
