THERE is an extra special reason for the King family from Portslade to celebrate Christmas this year.
Four-year-old Peter was diagnosed with leukaemia in May and since then has been through gruelling treatment.
Thankfully he has responded well and is now in remission, meaning his relieved parents and older sister can really enjoy the festive celebrations.
As an extra bonus, the family enjoyed a trip to Lapland to see Santa, which was granted by the children’s charity Starlight.
The charity works hard to grant poorly children their wishes and going on the journey was a huge treat for all concerned and helped take their minds off what has been a very difficult year.
Good wishes go out to the Kings and to other families across Sussex who have been affected by cancer over the past 12 months.
This is the time of year when we tend to think more about helping others and making a donation to the charity could be a small way of ensuring other families like the Kings are given the opportunity to put their troubles to one side.
