ENOUGH is enough.

For too long we have endured misery on the trains in Sussex.

Cancellations, delays and crowded carriages are a daily problem for commuters.

Fares have consistently risen above the rate of inflation and we have a compensation scheme that is not fit for purpose.

The issues of recent months have also been compounded by a breakdown in employee relations.

We have seen strikes in the spring and now the train company has taken the drivers' union to court.

Then there has been the high level of sickness - which many have claimed is a form of organised industrial action.

There is a lot of finger pointing going on. And stuck in the middle is you - the passenger.

You are paying through the nose for a service which simply is not up to scratch.

We asked to speak to the rail minister Claire Perry yesterday but were told she was not available.

We then asked for details of exactly what she is doing to sort the situation.

Her response, quite frankly, was pitiful.

She said nothing about what the Department for Transport is doing to resolve the issues.

It's almost as if nobody cares.

There seems to be an acceptance that things are bad and that nothing can be done.

Perhaps given the risk free contract Govia Thameslink has with the Government, there is no incentive to improve.

Well that is not good enough.

This is where the Government needs to step in.

This has gone on for far too long.
