In response to Councillor Gill Mitchell’s letter (The Argus, November 20), I wish to express my dismay at what I feel is the local Labour and Co-Operative Party’s insincerity.

Coun Mitchell and fellow councillor, Warren Morgan, consistently castigate the Green Party in The Argus.

In one of those letters (September 21) Coun Morgan expressed the view that, a year on from neighbourhood council pilots, “there is little to show in terms of actual achievements”. Why then, Coun Morgan, do you consistently attend meetings of the Due East Neighbourhood Council?

Furthermore, at the 2012 Due East Neighbourhood Council meeting in the summer, Coun Morgan and Coun Mitchell sat around the same table as Brighton and Hove City Council leader Jason Kitcat. That is irrefutable as I was present at the meeting.

Why, Coun Morgan, have you never expressed your reservations about neighbourhood council meetings when there is ample opportunity to do so at the meetings which you attend?

There was another opportunity this summer to voice your disaffection with neighbourhood councils.

I attended that meeting, but heard nothing to that effect. I wish to emphasise that I am not a member of any political party. My motivation is purely in the interest of the community.

Perhaps he can sincerely explain his actions at the next meeting.
