I have some thoughts on how to save the Newhaven Ferry.

a) The authorities could allow roadside advertising boards for the ferry.

b) There might be a permanent exhibition of Sussex artists that the visiting passengers would pass by at the Newhaven Terminal.

c) Models of the ferry might be displayed in schools and public places.

d) Photos of the ferry could be on display in schools/pubs/cafes etc.

e) Photos of Dieppe Port might be on display in Sussex and vice versa in France.

f) There could be ferry adverts on our coastal buses.

g) What about more school trips to Dieppe by ferry?

h) Brighton Museum might repeat its Dieppe Artists exhibition.

i) Encouraging twinning with cross-English Channel events like a chess competition.

j) The Argus to give prominent Dieppe citizens a column to discuss mutual affairs.

k) Schools might talk more about the sea and our relationship with it.

My Godparent Captain Paul Levesley was a former Captain of the Newhaven Ferry.
