Re Dawn Crook’s letter, September, 19, a new timetable for route 18 in Queens Park came in this week after extensive consultation with the local community.

There are now eight buses per hour between Queens Park and the city centre on the 18 and 21 routes, and five per hour in the evenings and on Sundays.

Dawn Crook mentions the problem with roadworks in the city and that certainly does affect the reliability of buses, and this is especially so for services affected by months of work around Brighton Station.

Service 18 is, however, now running much better to time than it was before.

The electronic display boards provided by the council and the bus company are undergoing a huge redevelopment.

The new system, which will deliver big improvements at the bus stop and inside our buses, and is just months away.

I am very sorry for the delays experienced due to the roadworks but overall our service standards remain high and once again this year the independent watchdog Passenger Focus, has surveyed our customers resulting in a 91% satisfaction rating.
