As frequent visitors to both Brighton and Bournemouth we were appalled to hear of the proposals for the area east of the Brighton pier where the terraces restaurant now stands.
The proposed development would obscure the amazing view of the seafront and pier.
We appreciate that the council would want the site to be developed. However to build a storey higher than the pavement area and obliterate the view to us seems inconceivable.
Bournemouth council recently recognised their folly and have demolished the Imax and opened up the seafront and restored the view by creating a very flexible open space.
In developing the site adjacent to the pier at Brighton it would seem a good time to demolish the terraces buildings and restore the panoramic seascape intended for this conservation area.
We hope Brighton Council will learn from Bournemouth and not go with what might look like an enticing commercial enterprise.
