A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to have a chat on the doorstep or on the phone, to everyone who dropped into the office, who put up a poster, and who voted for me.
I am proud of the positive campaign we ran in Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven and I also congratulate our newly elected Labour councillors.
I was truly touched by people’s kindness throughout the campaign and it would have been an honour to serve local residents as their MP.
I will not give up in my endeavour to tackle poverty and growing queues at food banks, to end the insecurity of low paid and zero hours work and I will do everything in my power to stop the privatisation of the NHS.
We grew a progressive Labour movement here and the result on Friday morning will not stop that. The fight to deliver an equal society continues.
Nancy Platts, former parliamentary candidate for Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven, St James’s Street, Brighton
