I’D JUST like to say how surprised I was when taking my car to Halfords auto centre near Brighton railway station.
I had a new clutch fitted and a thing called an EGR valve that all went fine.
I collected the car, paid the invoice and everyone was happy. But a day later it did not feel right and I decided to take it back.
On the way back to them it got worse and I couldn’t get it in gear and it was very noisy. So the AA towed me there.
The gearbox had broken but to my surprise I got a call to say the gearbox had been overhauled and new bearings put in at about £800 with a new clutch and flywheel and that it will be no extra cost.
I couldn’t believe what I’d heard and in these fast money-grabbing times we live in that they would do that.
They said they had to accept liability. So can I please say if anyone wants to get any work done on their car to ask them.
Because this is the first time I’ve ever been to them but it will definitely not be the last.
