In his letter (Election result produces many crucial questions, Argus, May 29) Mr Gibbons implies that voters are irrational but the views he expresses are mostly based on speculation.
For example, the responsibilities of Green councillors differ from those of the Green MP, so there is no anomaly in voting for the latter but not the former.
Why does he believe the NHS is less safe in a Conservative government’s hands than it would have been in Labour’s – especially when they pledged higher funding?
Labour now supports an EU referendum and public opinion supports continued EU membership so the risks of withdrawal seem low.
Reductions will have to be made in public spending whichever party is in power because of the unsustainable level of the deficit – a point now recognised by Labour.
Mr Gibbons is entitled to his views but he is doing a disservice to local voters in assuming they have not thought through the difficult issues facing the country at least as much as he has and simply reached different conclusions.
