So the dinosaurs are back and losing no time trying to turn the clock back.
First it was the Valley Gardens scheme. Now the Labour administration is after the Lewes Road scheme.
Never mind that it brought £4.2 million of government funds into the city, that the council was highly commended at the National Transport Awards for the scheme, that they won the Smarter TravelAward and a CIVITAS award as European City of the Year for Sustainable Transport and in the short time it has been in use it has already improved air quality and improved modal transport options.
It is not the hundreds of bus users and cyclists who are responsible for the problems of Coombe Road, it is those car drivers who insist on making Coombe Road a rat run, and there are solutions to that.
But of course bus users and cyclists do not count against the car, so councillor Daniel Yates is aiming to waste time and money on a ‘review’ when there is already regular monitoring, instead of addressing the real problem.
