Labour councillors in opposition actually voted against using a Government finance scheme to fund the i360 because of concerns about its viability and the possible future cost to council taxpayers.
Labour councillors in opposition raised many concerns about the Valley Gardens project and when they took over running the council in May 2015 launched an inquiry into it.
In both cases the out-going Greens had tied the council for years ahead into commitments which they had made and where funds were not transferable to other projects where the money might be better spent.
As for the Hippodrome – that’s privately owned.
