Another day and more drama. No wonder in feels unreal to live in England right now.

We have a power vacuum at the heart of government and a fragile feeling out in the country.

There is no sense that the divisions will heal just yet post Brexit but for the sake of our economy life must go on.

Meanwhile the victorious Leave side seems to be giving every sign that it actually wants Leave lite which is a bit late in the day to be signalling that. That is those who are talking at all. Most seem to be taking cover to decide their

next move including Brexit star, and our MEP, Dan Hannan who made the surprising declaration that actually there would have to be some form of free movement of peoples within the EU after all.

The disarray from the Leave side is allowing Nigel Farage, who in case you have forgotten is actually another of this area’s MEP, to grandstand in the EU Parliament playing his best pub bore character. Not particularly wise given all those he

upset will be making decisions about what concessions we get as we seek access to European markets.

The sooner Farage is moved from centre stage by more eminent Leavers the better.

Meanwhile the tragic-comedy that is the Labour Party leadership meltdown shows no sign of being anything other than a long running show. Labour has become two parties, an activist wing lead by Jeremy Corbyn and a Parliamentary party almost

totally opposed to him.

But there is serious stuff at play here rather than these pantomimes. We need leadership quickly so we can sort the terms of our exit and business needs confidence that there is a plan.

That need grows more urgent by the day.
