Albion's defensive crisis is set to be eased by the return of Wayne Bridge from hamstring problems for Sunday's derby against Crystal Palace.

The former England left-back is certain he will be fit for the Eagles' visit to The Amex and Vicente could be back in contention too but right-back Bruno (calf and Achilles) will be missing.

Manager Gus Poyet revealed: "Bridgey is 100 per cent sure he will be there. Probably Vicente as well will be there. We'll see. Tomorrow is the confirmation day."

Inigo Calderon is likely to replace Bruno, while captain Gordon Greer takes over from the suspended Adam El-Abd at centre-half.

Albion have recalled left-back Marcos Painter from his loan spell at Bournemouth as defensive cover.

Sidelined top scorer Craig Mackail-Smith is expected to be at the Palace game after surgery in Finland on Monday to repair a ruptured Achilles, which will rule him out until pre-season.

Poyet said: "Everything went fine. He is coming back before the weekend."
