QPR boss Harry Redknapp wants to make Wayne Bridge his first summer signing.

The former England left-back impressed when he spent last season on loan to Albion and is now out of contract at Manchester City.

Redknapp wants to work the free agent market as he looks to take QPR back to the top flight.

He will ask for backing from owner Tony Fernandes to get Bridge on board.

Redknapp told skysports.com: “I'm trying to get Wayne Bridge. I thought he did fantastically well with Brighton, he'd be a good left-back for us.

"He's got great experience, looks in great shape and is a player I want to bring in on a free.

"I'm hoping that's the first deal I can do. We are pushing for that one.”
