Mauricio Taricco will use his departure from Albion as a "learning experience".

Gus Poyet's No. 2 parted company with the Seagulls at the end of June, 48 hours after Poyet was sacked for gross misconduct.

Taricco had also been suspended for gross misconduct, but the 40-year-old Argentinian was subsequently re-instated by Albion and returned to work to take pre-season  training while Poyet's future was up in the air.

The former Ipswich favourite, breaking his silence over the summer turmoil ahead of today's clash between his old clubs at Portman Road, told BBC Radio Suffolk: "It was a learning experience, which I will take forward.

"In my career as a coach you have a lot of different experiences in order to get better and better, so it was great.

"Now is a new period and we are looking forward to it."

Taricco is expected to link back up with Poyet if the Uruguayan lands the Sunderland job, although he was coy when asked about the Black Cats. He said: "For me no, there's nothing in there."

He also said: "At the moment I am just watching a lot of football. I know the Championship, I am living in England so I watch a lot of the Premier League.

"I played abroad in the past, I'm interested in Italian football, their tactics. I'm trying to learn and then wait for another opportunity. I will do something in football for sure."
