Former Albion manager Gus Poyet says he has yet to plan his January transfer activity at Sunderland.
Some Seagulls fans are concerned Poyet will look to plunder his old squad at The Amex when the mid-season window opens.
However Poyet, who took charge on Wearside on Tuesday, says he is some way from making such plans.
The Black Cats boss would have to offload players before he brought anyone in.
Poyet told chroniclelive.co.uk: “My idea is to assess the players that are here and make sure I check them properly.
“Which ones are down, which ones want to be here and which ones can help me.
“I will learn things this way. And then, depending on what I see in the next month or two, I will talk to him (owner Ellis Short).
“But I don’t think we can start talking too much before then.
“At the moment, it’s not something I’m even thinking about.”
