Craig Conway has set his sights on his first start at The Amex for Albion.

The Scottish winger has yet to make his full home debut for the Seagulls, six weeks into his loan move from Cardiff.

That is about to change against Watford in front of the Sky cameras on Monday night. Conway took over from the injured Kazenga LuaLua in last Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Yeovil.

He was Albion’s best player and, with LuaLua ruled out for up to eight weeks after knee tendon surgery, is on course to retain his place against Watford.

Conway told The Argus: “I’ve not been lucky enough to start yet at The Amex. Hopefully that will come. You have got to be confident in your ability and I want to start. Obviously it’s unfortunate for him (LuaLua) but hopefully I can play some games.”

Albion, in the bottom half of the table, are closer to the relegation zone than the play-off places but Conway believes it is too early to take much notice of the standings.

He said: “I don’t think it’s very important at this point in the season. I think you should maybe judge it more at Christmas time.

“After that all it takes is a small run. We have seen it so many times. A team wins five or six in a row and all of a sudden they are up there. This league is just so inconsistent, teams all drop points. “We just need to focus on ourselves. It’s pointless looking at the table at the moment. We have just got to try and first and foremost get wins at home and add draws like we’ve had away.”
