Crawley boss hoping for "sexy" tie in FA Cup
New boss John Gregory has set his sights on Crawley Town being handed a "sexy tie" in the third round of the FA Cup when the draw is made tomorrow.
Reds will be in the hat when the top two divisions enter the competition for the fourth year in a row following a goalless draw at Bristol Rovers in what was Gregory's first game in charge.
Gregory was happy with the way his side dug in to earn a replay at the Checkatrade.com Stadium on Tuesday December 17 but knows they will have to improve their cutting edge to overcome Rovers at the second attempt.
He said: "I think it was probably the right result. We totally dominated the first half and were a bit disappointed not to come in at half-time with a lead.
"Collectively as a group I thought they were brilliant. I wanted them to play with spririt and passion and I was happy with that. We just need to add a little bit of quality and improve on certain things.
"Bristol Rovers are a tough side to play against and it will be the same in the replay.
"I'm delighted to be in the hat tomorrow and hopefully we will get a sexy tie to make the replay even more interesting.
"I'd love to get anybody in the Premier League but we've still get to make sure we beat Bristol Rovers and get through the replay first."
Gregory also confirmed that Josh Simpson suffered a hamstring injury in the warm-up which forced him to pull out of the team five minutes before kick-off with Andy Drury promoted from the bench.
