4:58pm

Still Albion charged forward and Camp blocked a close range drive from Agustien after Orlandi’s delivery from the left had caused more problems.
Final: Albion 1 Bournemouth 1

4:56pm

Then, in added time, Barnes rose at the far post and headed on to the top of the bar.

Daniels countered and fired in a shot which flicked off El-Abd and into Kuszczak's arms.

Back came Albion and Orlandi cut the ball back for Bridcutt, who fired straight to Camp.

4:52pm

Just as hope was running out, Stephen WARD turned to nod Albion level from close range in a chaotic goalmouth scramble.

4:50pm

Well-organised Bournemouth had created next to nothing but Arter threatened a second goal with a low shot from 20 yards which Kuszczak parried diving to his left.

4:48pm

Bridcutt was again progressive in his passing as he sent Barnes away in the inside right challenge but his low cross was smothered by Camp before Ulloa could pounce.
LuaLua’s last act was to force Francis into conceding a corner but Agustien’s delivery failed to beat the first defender. LuaLuaa was replaced moments later by Orlandi.

4:44pm

Bournemouth sent on Pitman for striker Grabban in the 82nd minute

4:43pm

Suddenly Albion carved out their best chance of the half – and again Camp denied them. Ince threaded a pass into Agustien on the left edge of the box and his precise cross was headed goalwards by Barnes but the keeper blocked.

4:38pm

Bridcutt was booked for a foul.

Both the most recent subs were quickly on the ball. Fraser saw a shot deflect into Kuszczak’s arms.
Then Barnes looked to curl the ball in from the left for Ulloa but his cross was overhit.

4:36pm

4:36pm

Bridcutt’s diagonal pass invited Stephen Ward to go on a run which led to a corner.
David’s inswinging delivery caught on the breeze and had to be headed away inside his own six-yard box by Elphick. And his clearance cannoned off El-Abd and behind for a goal kick.
Bournemouth sent on Fraser for Ritchie while Albion introduced Barnes for David.

4:32pm

4:28pm

As Cherries countered, Daniels was bodychecked just before he could into the box by El-Abd and was booked. But Francis drilled the free-kick tamely wide.
Crofts was replaced by Agustien before the game could resume.

4:28pm

4:22pm

4:22pm

That led to a couple of corners which Bournemouth dealt with – and then they countered. But Ritchie shot over from long range.

4:21pm

Suddenly LuaLua weaved some magic as he cut inside from the left edge of the box and unleashed a shot which beat Camp but rattled back off the underside of the bar

4:14pm

4:13pm

As the rain continued to sweep down, Pugh eased past Calderon down the left wing but El-Abd got across to tidy up.
Bournemouth had made a bright start to the half. Ritchie had a hopeful long-ranger blocked and then Grabban saw a tight-angled drive parried by Kuszczak, who grabbed the loose ball.
Then Arter looked to threat Grabban into the box and Upson had to respond quickly get in front of him and hook the ball out for a throw.
It was just the start to the half the visitors would have wanted.

4:09pm

There were no substitutions ahead of a second half which would see Albion attack towards the North Stand.

Elphick needed treatment after a collision with LuaLua in the opening minute of the period but was able to continue.

3:56pm

3:55pm

3:52pm

Camp came to Bournemouth’s rescue again in added time. Crofts picked out Ulloa with a superb ball over Elphick and Ulloa took it down.
But Camp was out quickly and blocked his volley away for a corner.
There was  still time for David to angle a long ball between the central defenders and Ulloa seemed to have taken it down, only for it to bounce away from him.
Half: Albion 0 Bournemouth 1

3:46pm

The contest, and home crowd, had gone very flat again.
Eddie Howe’s side were doing a good job of frustrating the hosts and keeping the ball at times.

3:37pm

The Seagulls looked to LuaLua for inspiration. He was fouled tight to the touchline but Camp fisted away David’s inswinging free-kick away from almost under his own bar under pressure.

3:35pm

Arter, back from a suspension, was first into the book on 31 minutes for scything through Bridcutt after the home man had played a pass.
But Cherries were seeing more of the ball now and the Albion pressure had eased.

3:30pm

3:29pm

3:28pm

LuaLua let fly from outside the box but the ball passed fairly comfortably wide as Camp dived to cover the bottom corner.
Elphick did well to head away at the far post after David stood up an inviting ball to the far post.
The clearance fell to LuaLua outside the box and his right-foot drive was superbly helped around the post by Camp.
Albion kept pushing forward. David picked out Upson with a free-kick and his header was deflected for a corner which caused chaos before Camp dived on the loose ball as Ulloa rather optimistically claimed he had been impeded.

3:22pm

3:22pm

3:21pm

Bournemouth had offered little threat – but they went ahead after a laughable penalty decision by referee Simon Hooper. He stunned both sides by pointing to spot after Calderon slid in to nudge the ball away left-footed from Pugh. After lengthy arguments, GRABBAN drilled the spot kick into the bottom half.
Albion responded well and Ulloa had a right-foot blast well saved by Camp.

3:14pm

3:13pm

Elliott Ward did more good work when he cut out a low cross by David Lopez who had been sent away down the right by Bridcutt’s fine pass.
LuaLua had a first run at Francis and his low ball in deflected to ulloa, whose touch let him down as the ball ran away from him for a goal kick right in front of the away fans.
Ulloa’s control was then awry when David drilled an intelligent low ball into him on the edge of the box.
But Albion kept coming – and Crofts’ use of the conditions so nearly brought a breakthrough.
He looked to keep a shot low as he let fly from 25 yards and the ball seemed to skid under Camp’s dive before smacking against the post.

3:07pm

A poor pass by David Lopez on the edge of his own box put Albion in a spot of bother but they managed to slither the resulting cross to safety before the gaze of a slightly anxious North Stand.
A simple ball over the top then got Ulloa in behind the Bournemouth defence to the right of goal but Elliott Ward made up ground quickly to slide in and nudge the ball out for a corner – from which Albion were penalised for a shove.

3:02pm

No change of ends. We will be under way just as soon as Bournemouth have completed their huddle.

3:02pm

Elphick gets the expected warm welcome from Albion fans as his name is read out.

2:58pm

2:58pm

Reports are filtering through from the Emirates that Vincent Tan is wearing a blue jumper!

So which will be the colour of success here today?

Albion are putting their faith in Kazenga LuaLua for some attacking width but I suspect some fans will be disappointed not to see the Ulloa/Barnes pairing which started at Blackpool.

Arter is a busy midfielder and Cherries will be glad to have him back after a one-game ban.

2:47pm

There could be a first in the offing here at The Amex in the first match of 2014.
Albion could move into the top six for the first time this season (if you exclude the in-running league table after about 15 minutes of the opening game).
Or Bournemouth could complete a hat-trick of away wins in the second tier for the first time in their history.
We know Woodingdean boy Tommy Elphick will enjoy his first match at The Amex.
And that Leo Ulloa will start a game here for the first time in exactly three months.
Other than that, though, it’s a hard one to call as the Seagulls, who have been fallible at home, take on a Cherries side set up to defend in numbers and break forward quickly.
It was 3-2 to the Seagulls when these sides met at Withdean on New Year’s Day 2008.
Let’s see if Albion can, er, “Revell” in the wet conditions today.

Sounds like an awful penalty decision. Don't know if Pugh dived but he has a reputation...

Great shame the ref seemingly has made an appalling error. Half time team talk has to be robust. Getting plenty of shots at goal but few on target. Come on Albion lets have a 3-1 win---home form not good!!

Not really. Still hasn't played two strikers. Don't think he ever will no matter what players we have. Shame. We won't score until he does. Put Barnes up with Ulloa.

Well we should have won as it was NOT a penalty---but then again we should have taken our chances and with three attempts hitting the bar it all seems unfair---but thats football--- at least we did not lose but could have done with those extra two points. Now lets concentrate on keeping our players.
