Albion have offered fans a massive boost – by securing their rising star Rohan Ince on a new two-and-a-half year contract.

Ince, 21, is now committed to the Seagulls until the end of the 2015-16 season.

He is widely regarded as a potential successor to Liam Bridcutt, the wantaway midfielder who is being courted by Sunderland boss Gus Poyet.

Ince first arrived at The Amex under Poyet’s management and was regarded as a central defender.

The former Chelsea youngster was converted into a midfield role by current head coach Oscar Garcia and it has proved to be an inspired decision.

Ince has revelled in the new position after enjoying his senior debut in August and has made a massive impact on the Championship.

Oscar said: “I am delighted for Rohan. He has earned this contract with the way he has trained and played ever since I came to the club.

“He has an excellent attitude every day, he looks after himself and works hard in training; and we are all seeing the benefit of that with his performances on the pitch.

“It is nice for the club to reward that hard work and professionalism with this new contract and I am very pleased for him.”

Bridcutt is likely to leave, we know that. But, I would suggest it may have been the Barnes scenario that pushed this along. We don't want to be losing anyone of worth for free, so Ince had to be secured into a contract. I would like to think this would have happened whether Bridcutt was leaving or not.

Very good news. It may well be the point when the club have to agree to let LIam leave. They must get a good deal on the price to allow Oscar to add quality. The Cardif pair seem to have the quality.
With Ash on the verge of a move we need someone up front with his work rate and add some goals to help a push itno the play offs.

It is sad to see good players leave, but the money and kudos of the Premier League dominates football. The role of Oscar and his team is to develop the team and keep improving the quality so the Albion will be the place to be in the Premiership.

On another note, perhaps andy naylor could answer. Did Gus take his or have his own scouting network as i see Sunderland landing a number of foreign players and we would now appear to be going for for British players after having spent 4 yrs looking at ,and taking on Spanish , Argentinian players. A shift in policy ? I only ask as with OG's appointment i suspect many of us were expecting a few more Spanish aquisition ?

One thing I can say about OG is that he seems to do things quietly however I am sure he has a say in who to buy; if he is seeing good Brtish talent at the moment then good and mixed with the Spanish and Argentinean and Ejuropean flair we have it looks like the makings of a goodfoundation of a PL team.
The Cardif guys will have a point to prove if we do go up if we manage to sign them.

Great news of intent by The Albion. I would put money on it Falmer that somebody at The Amex trawls through all these postings in order to gauge the feels of the fans. I'm not necessarily saying that they act on our opinions but they will give them food for thought.

If I was the boss of any business I would want to know the opinions of those interested in my business.

Back in the 1960's when I was recruited into a civil service post my headquarters had two people whose sole task was to trawl through all the local and national papers for any stories of misdoings by the staff. Not very interesting I'm sure, but not a lot of people knew that.

Great news, Rohan Ince deserves this new contract, the guy has real ability and class written all over him, many on here keep saying he is an ideal replacement for Liam, I disagree, he's better than that and his long term future is attacking midfielder, to play him purely defensive would be to waste his power and pace, I trust that Oscar has seen that too.
On a separate note, if we can add Conway and Mason to the squad, with Ash leaving I wont be worried at all, whatever happens with Liam, provided we get a fair price from Blunderland !
I am convinced that playoffs are beckoning again, can't wait.

Yes, this is correct. Rohan Ince is not a replacement for bridcutt, they are different players. Ince is being primed to become an attacking midfielder, he can play bridcutt,s role but it is not where his potential is and that's just a sign of how athletic and versatile he is. It will be Keith Andrews who plays the defensive role if he goes, not Ince. Not convinced bridcutt will go yet, if Sunderland don't meet the asking price that we value him at, he won't go simple as that. We are unbeaten with Ince and bridcutt in the same side. Oscar and tony bloom are not gonna break that up lightly.

Now THAT'S the news we've all been wanting to hear!

Just fantastic.

Ince is a player who will develop over the next couple of seasons and who will rightly be one of those who will step up with us when we reach that promised land. The term of the contract is spot on for both Rohan and the Albion as by the time it expires we will have established ourselves as a PL club and new terms will be needed.

Bring on Birmingham. Bring on 2014. Bring on (at least) the playoffs.

I'm loving this!

Absolutely, after 40 plus years watching the Albion, he's one of the most promising young players I have seen, thank goodness someone saw fit to change him from CB to midfield, (next step more attacking), The lad will potentially play at a very high level, hopefully for the medium to long term with us. Well done to all concerned.
On a disappointing note, Ole Gunner was on sky this morning saying how much he wants Craig Conway to stay at Cardiff, (not good).

Agree on Rohan becoming an attacking midfielder, once he gets that first goal he will gain the confidence and belief that could take him on to the next level. My only concern is that when/if Liam leaves that Rohan gets pushed back into that defensive position!
Not so sure on Conway, take him on loan yes, but at almost 29yrs old we should look for a younger long term prospect if we are to spend money, we have LuaLua, Buckley, and March as wingers already, Mason has potential and if Obika does well and we can sign him it just leaves our defence in need of a face lift. Chicksen and Maxi, left backs, sorted, Dunk could still make the jump up the ladder but I feel 2 centre backs are needed and at least 1 at right back. We will have to wait until the end of the season to see TK stays, if not a new keeper will also be needed.
The way the club has performed so far this season and especially in this window can only give confidence to us supporters that our team is in the best of hands, long May it continue! UTA
