Albion youngster Shamir Goodwin is closing in on his Football League debut.

The development squad forward has signed on a month’s loan for League Two outfit Torquay.

He is eligible for their game at AFC Wimbledon today.

The move rewards an impressive recent loan spell at Conference south club Tonbridge Angels.

Albion’s development coach Simon Ireland is delighted to see Goodwin, from Crawley, get his chance.

Ireland said: “He is an example to all young footballers about how quickly things can change for them.

“The key is using the best of your ability, working hard and showing commitment and he has done that both with us and during his loan spell at Tonbridge, and off the back of that he has got himself a move to a league club."

Good luck to the lad, watching Leicester tonight!,, amazing power and desire to score goals.. Two up front with two wingers.... They and QPR are top two.. Play offs not easy.. My outside bet is Leeds.

From the Seagulls to the Gulls, should feel at home. Hope loan is successful and a good learning experience for him.

I agree. I thought Leicester were a good team last season and they have built on that. The best teams in this division have two up front. From the many thumbs down you received it is clear most of the posters on here haven't got a clue about football.

Was glad when Shamir signed a professional contract with us after reports in the national press that Liverpool where keeping tabs on him. Hope he continues to improve as it has been highlighted recently, forwards are a valuable asset .

I’d rather we stayed with 3 up top and turn good chances into Goals.

Derby were poor last night in fact the worst I've seen them play. Goals are goals but 1st one was good but should have been defended; 2nd one was very lucky with Nugent sooting it hit the goalie and bounced back at Nugent and it went in hence his celebration. After Derby got one back the the penalty which was again careless meant the Derby heads went down. Point of this on the Albion site is in response to a couple of previous posts; the relevance; well Brighton should not be concerned by Leicester or Derby and we need to close the gap.
