Nathan Jones and his former Albion boss still the best of friends ahead of FA Cup clash
Micky Adams says he has no axe to grind with Nathan Jones as they go head-to-head in the FA Cup.
The Port Vale chief had a spat with Albion assistant Jones during his second spell in charge of the Seagulls when the Welshman was playing for Yeovil.
Adams interrupted his post-match interview to accuse Jones of play-acting to get Joe Anyinsah sent-off but the incident has long since been forgotten by the Yorkshireman attempting to plot the Seagulls' fourth round downfall at Vale Park tomorrow.
Adams said: "Do you think I would think about that more than the part Nathan Jones played in our back-to-back Championship seasons? He's one of my old boys, like Watto is and Dodge (Rogers, the commercial manager) and Danny Cullip (Albion In The Community).
"I am proud of them all, I think they have done great. I'm pleased that Nathan is the assistant. He has done fantastically well forging a career as a coach. I'd like to think he has learned a bit off me."
Adams also reveals in an exclusive in-depth interview inside today's Argus that he should never have come back to Albion and that he has never been to The Amex after rejecting an invitation to the opening.
He said: "The second time I think I let my heart rule my head. I should have turned it down. I wasn't aware of certain things that were happening. And if I had known the full facts I wouldn't have come back.
"I haven't seen the new stadium. I don't even know what it looks like. When I first came to Brighton many years ago the dream was sold to me that we were going to be in a new stadium.
"What a struggle that was to achieve and unfortunately for me I never got to manage in it.
"I got an invite to the first ever game there (Spurs). I've got to be honest I was a bit peeved because they just invited me - they didn't invite my missus or the kids. I declined the invitation. I thought it was a bit disrespectful."
