Albion reject Posh interest in Dunk

The Argus: Lewis Dunk, right, was wanted by Peterborough Lewis Dunk, right, was wanted by Peterborough

Albion have turned down interest from Peterborough in Lewis Dunk.

The League One club tried to sign Dunk on loan during the January transfer window to boost their challenge for the play-offs. They were knocked back as Dunk is now next in line at centre-half for the Seagulls behind captain Gordon Greer and Matt Upson after Adam El-Abd was sold to Bristol City.

Dunk, on the bench for Albion’s last three Championship games, made his first start for ten months in the recent FA Cup victory at Port Vale.

The loan transfer window opens tomorrow and head coach Oscar Garcia would prefer to have four central defenders to call upon.

The Seagulls were linked with free agent Chris Baird during the January transfer window but the versatile Northern Ireland international, recovering from injury at Reading, was not a cost-effective option.

LD is needed at the Albion, I have heard that Adam el Abt is not setting the world on fire at Brizzle. They use a back 3, and of course this exposes Adam's lack of outright pace, with no fullback to cover.

You need four outright centre-halves in the squad if possible. Shame there's no-one coming through. If only Steve Cook was coming through right now! You'd like to think Dunk will stay until the Summer and a loan signing will come in too.
