LAST weekend’s eagerly anticipated Elvis event went down a storm and raised the largest amount of funds for a town hall occasion.
A total of £1132 was raised for the Mayor’s Charity Fund.
The evening was a sell out with nearly 200 people keen to see one of the world’s best Elvis tribute acts, Paul Larcombe perform.
Middlewich Town Mayor Bernice Walmsley said there have been plenty of requests for the artist to return next year.
“I was really pleased at the success of this major fundraising event and the sum raised is quite extraordinary. It will all go to local good causes,” Bernice said.
“As Middlewich Town Mayor I was especially pleased to see the town hall full to capacity.
"The town council only took over the running of the town hall a few months ago and it’s already proving to be a good move as it’s preserved a valuable asset for the community, with multi-purpose space for all sorts of functions.
“I’m looking forward to many more events there including the Middlewich Oscars on March 22.”
A pink fluffy pig dressed as Elvis in a white sparkly suit with sunglasses that could also sing and waggle its nose and tail, was auctioned and sold for £30.
