Oscar: We're doing all we can

Oscar Garcia believes Albion are performing as well as can be expected in his first season at the helm.

The Spaniard has the Seagulls two points and two places outside the Championship play-offs as they head for Bolton Wanderers today.

Gus Poyet’s successor is satisfied with his team’s showing, bearing in mind injuries, a “difficult” January transfer window and the pedigree of the clubs Albion are up against.

Oscar told the Argus: “Seeing as we’ve had lots of injuries and a difficult transfer window, I am very happy with our season so far.

“I think we are doing a good job. The players deserve to be where we are. Most of the fans know where we have come from. We don’t come from the Premier League, we don’t have the highest budget.

“There are a lot of teams who have more pressure because of history, bigger clubs with bigger squads.

“There is more pressure for them to be top of the league or in a promotion position.

“We are happy because we are close to them and we will try to continue to compete with the bigger teams and squads around us.”

Albion need 22 points from the last 12 games to emulate last season’s tally under Poyet, when they finished fourth.

I think we can match last seasons tally, will it be enough? If not considering our problems we have done all we could,
The loss of Barnes has cost us points I believe as he would have chipped in with a few.
We missed crofts massively , but last season a disappointment .
I think we have missed bridcutt when we were short due to injuries like ince and Stephens .
Over the next 12 games Buckley , Stephens and Jessie need to chip in with 7-8 goals between them,
It's going to be close call, but I think if we stay injury free we can do it.

Make sure Kazenga is on at 55 - 65 minutes every match!! Fine to trial others coming on/ back too e.g. Hoskins but let's make sure Kazenga comes on. The fans have known this for a long time and the expectation is always there - home or away. He rattles the opposition and they don't want him coming off the bench!!

UTA!!

Agreed, Mark. Personally, I think we've overachieved taking everything into consideration. If we can perform as we have in certain games this season ( Leicester, Wigan ), and Leo gets some help in the goalscoring department, then I don't see why we can't manage a play-off place.

We've got 23 points from the last possible 36 so there's no resaon why we can't achieve a similar tally in the last twelve games - especially as we have to play seven of the bottom nine clubs! That last game at Forest is going to be MASSIVE!!

Oscars done a bloody good job and ive warmed to him massively, walks on pitch at end of every game and is always last off. Wish he had more to do with yransfers then you would really see The Seagulls fly. UTA

Interesting that we are about the same place as last season points wise despite the injuries and only having one striker available at any one time. Last season we had a good run in, maybe that's due to an improvement in pitches so maybe we'll have another good run in
