Albion's Championship promotion rivals Nottingham Forest have sacked Billy Davies.

The Scot has lost his job following Saturday's 5-0 defeat by East Midlands neighbours Derby County, which stretched Forest's decline to eight matches without a win.

They are currently seventh, a point and a place above Albion who have a game in hand.

Neil Warnock, who guided Notts County to victory over the Seagulls in the second tier play-off final at Wembley in 1991, is expected to take charge at the City Ground.

Albion visit Forest on the last day of the season.

I don't think anyone will mourn his departure, except those of us who rather enjoyed Notts Forest's recent decline.

Still, if Warnock gets the job they'll just be replacing a total w****r with Colin W****r.

My only concern is not for either of these muppets, but for the fact that this may reignite Forest into a playoff threat. It would be sweet to make the playoffs on the last day and make Warnock lose his job though!

Payback for 1991 for those of us hat were at Wembley, I still reckon it was our "pink " kit that did the damage !

Never a popular man. Cant say I'm surprised he's gone.
Pity it's Warnock who's replacing him though. He's a sound manager and is likely to get a positive response from the players, which wont make it any easier when we visit at the end of the season.
I'd rather Davies had stayed and they'd lost a couple more games before they sacked him.

So sheenanigins at Forest which may or may not work in our favour. I thought Colin had retired but I suppose he couldn't stay away. Leeds is another club in meltdown since their proposed takeover has been stopped.
Makes you happy to support a club that is stable with a great chairman and great set up. UTA

Seventh in the league and the manager got fired . Unless there were other issues that seems crazy.

I guess that is the way with clubs owned by Middle Eastern or Asian businessmen.

Looks to me like a desparate act from a club relying on promotion as a consequence af failing to meet the FFP rules.

Is it me, or is Warnock looking like Gonzo from the Muppets these days?

Having beaten us 3-1 back in October I thought then and now they were the strongest side we have played this season. Very very powerful with Lansbury running things in midfield, a player I always thought we should have tried harder to get. The sort of powerful attacking midfielder we nearly had in an on song Crofts or Bennett. They absolutely crushed us.

It was about then that Billy the Bully Davies signed a four year deal worth, no doubt, a good deal more than he was on before. Not so Silly Billy then that since then nothing has gone right for them and they will have to pay him still for the next three and a half years as well as Warnock his pound of flesh until at least the end of the season plus playoff bonus etc if he achieves. That should help their Profit & Loss account. What was it they lost last year, £17 mill if I remember rightly on top of the £14 mill the previous year.

Still, if they achieve the Premiership will they care? So much for the FFP rules!!!

Ken in Spain says...

Warnock will come in as some sort of "Director of Football" role. He said, months ago, that is how he sees his future. I see they have already loaned his old captain from Leeds. I expect a "bounce" from this and that disappoints me. They were gently sliding out of contention under Billy, which was pleasing, and makes our last match a possible winner takes all. May the best team win and all that!
