Albion and Yeovil will meet again on a Friday night

First published in Sport

Albion will end their regular season home fixtures on a Friday night.

The Seagulls' game with Yeovil at the Amex has been brought forward for live screening on Sky Sports.

It will now take place on Friday, April 25.

The match could have implications in both the race for the play-offs and the battle against relegation.

Middlesbrough's visit this weekend now becomes the penultimate Saturday afternoon fixture at the Amex this term.

Good for the fact it will bring extra revenue in.
Bad, as stated above SKY and BBC have NO,ZERO, interest in our club and that has been seen or not seen by the lack of TV coverage thus far this and previous seasons on SKY and the Football league Show.
To move the game is also not fair on the many supporters that all season have watched the club play even I would assume by regulating there time so as to be able to attend the games.

We have nine games left, and this fixture is likely to be one of the six we need to win.
We are not going to be relegated, so risks will have to be taken.
I am hoping that the coaching staff show a realization of the importance of these games with their match-day decisions.
If they approach these nine matches in exactly the same way as the previous thirty seven, they are not competent to be trusted with another season at the helm.

Whether this game is played Friday or Saturday makes no difference to us or Yeovil. It does matter to the fans because this is relatively short notice and plans will have to be changed for many people.
Thanks very much Sky. This is cheesing me off and it won't get any better if we get to the PL.
What is even more galling is we might be out of the play off race by then and Yeovil may already be relegated. It might make for a cracking atmosphere.
Someone has really thought this one through.

So if the Yoevil match has been selected for live TV, does that suggest that the away match against Forest won't be? I can see how the former match might have importance for both teams, in all likely hood Yoevil will be relegated before we play them, but our match at Forest could be even bigger, either club might make the playoffs depending on the result.

Absolutely no regard for season ticket holders at all. I`m beginning to regret renewing already. So we play Friday night. If we are muscled out of the play offs the following day everyone is off the hook. Crafty move by the executives and shows the contempt the execs have for the fans. It`s nearly time for the fans voice to speak out once again.

On another thread, today is the 49th anniversary of the death of Barrie Rees who only played 12 games for the Albion in season 64/65 but was instrumental in helping the Club win the Div 4 championship after signing from Everton. He was only 21 when he was killed in a car accident at Nuneaton after helping the Albion beat Southport 3-1 the night before.
He was confidently expected to gain full international honours for Wales and was a great loss to the Albion and football.
A fitting tribute might be a friendly between Albion and Everton next year to commemorate 50 years since his death and the Div 4 Championship.

Nothing the club can do about it, if Sky or BT want to show the game they will show it, that is what they pay television rights for.

They either don't have one or they just jumped on the bandwagon when the amex opened

Odd choice of match this one, pretty sure Yeovil will be doomed by then and only possible Bton will be in play offs. Financially the club receive £150k for the televised rights, this has got to be measured against fewer Yeovil supporters through the gates,(although their attendances are generally low) and Bton supporters with other commitments.
Friday nights according to PB generate the most revenue so perhaps thats also the thinking behind it.
The way OG conducts the interviews etc I am pretty sure there won't be a player parade, especially as we only take one game at a time.

Maybe not
Yeovil have only lost 2 of the last 10 matches.
If Charlton fail to take advantage of their games in hand it could be close.
We are only 3 points off 6th place with a game in hand, so could easily still be in the mix come Yeovil.

Financially the club receive £150k for the televised rights, this has got to be measured against fewer Yeovil supporters through the gates,(although their attendances are generally low) and Bton supporters with other commitments. Friday nights according to PB generate the most revenue so perhaps thats also the thinking behind it. The way OG conducts the interviews etc I am pretty sure there won't be a player parade, especially as we only take one game at a time.[/p][/quote]Maybe not Yeovil have only lost 2 of the last 10 matches. I can see how the former match might have importance for both teams, in all likely hood Yoevil will be relegated before we play them, but our match at Forest could be even bigger, either club might make the playoffs depending on the result.
Forest is last match of season, All matches start same time. So I do not think any of them will be exclusive to sky
All last day matches do start at the same time, but I believe two of them will be shown live on sky.
Didn't realise that.
I would think sky will make a late decision on who to feature, so we could be on TV that week as well
Fingers crossed, yes.
