Albion talking point: How should Oscar use his attacking options?

Leo Ulloa had a frustrating afternoon at Barnsley

Albion’s winless run extended to five games – but there were two silver linings to a drab day at Oakwell.

Solly March made a bright first away start in the Championship.

And Craig Mackail-Smith returned to action with a brief but enthusiastic run out at off the bench.

So how would you like to see Oscar Garcia line up his team in attack now he has more options?

What do you see as the right formula to grab the wins and goals the Seagulls now badly need to make up ground in the play-off race?

We’d like to know your thoughts?

I dare not voice an opinion on this matter, not until I've read what Nathan Jones has to say.

There is only one target now and that is Reading who have to play Leicester straight after us and finish at Burnley whilst we finish at Forest - their run-in is, on paper, tougher than ours but seeing the results today anything goes... so here's hoping. We can always live in hope... UTA.

Wise up, Garcia and Jones are clueless. Only the bottom six in The Championship have less goals. Just cast your minds back to the way they
managed the FA Cup fixtures against Hull as semi finals weekend looms next week. The current run which is hardly going to end at promoted Leicester on Tuesday will be followed by the visit of Charlton, including Junior Poyet, when it should have been Sheffield Utd at Wembley.

Oscar and Jones OUT!!

Before the game started today I think the majority on here thought that we had the right line up from the players available to be selected, so the answer to the head line questions seems to be answered.

The inevetable calls for Kaz to start will be made, but that is a debate that will run all the time he wears the stripes.
The return of CMS is the real question and I would guess that Rodriguez would make way for him but my preference would be to let Lingard stand down.

Time for a reality check !!!
We aint gonna make the play offs and we dont deserve to.
Pathetic tactics, limp excuses, I'm fed up with it.
We have some really promising players, but tactically we are totally inept.
OG & NJ are responsible for how we approach the game and the strategies we use.
One shot on target in 90 minutes against a team as poor as Barnsley just about sums up their nous about what is required in this division.
It's becoming embarrassing !!

Rubbish. Oscar has done tremendously this season with no summer preparation. We are on a poor run, it happens but we are still in the hunt. We are now an established Championship team, rewind a few years and reflect please.

Too easily satisfied. Get your head out of the sand. That was then, this is now.

One shot on target in a must win game against a relegation threatened team who have let in more home goals than anyone in the entire division. Goals scored only two more than games played. FA Cup chance blown by the management team.

No other solution, Oscar and Jones MUST go. Take Burke and Day with you too.

Just so everyone knows who do you feel have been added to support your building theory?

I trust you are not including the fat lazy Dutchman with the abysmal attitude who was considered worthy of a two year contract by Burke and his huge staff of 20+.

Comparing this rubbish now to where we were a few years ago is complete nonsense. We had no money then and were struggling to survive, we now have a nice stadium, supposedly a better team (and yes all credit to Tony Bloom for funding both) and an expectant following. But as has been said with increasing regularity the football is getting poorer by the game. The powers that be must now decide what they want, a real assault on this league next season with the players to back it up (we do not have enough of those I think most of us will agree) or to just plod along in this league with the same or similar squad/coaching staff that we have at the moment. Both involve risks, a better squad will involve more investment in the team either in transfer fees and/or wages which has not really happened so far OR plodding along with poor football will run the risk of more and more empty seats. Lets be honest a trip to the Amex for a family is not a cheap day out and the least people want is to be entertained, which seems to be more and more elusive.

The other positive to take from this game was we kept our 1st clean sheet in five. We badley miss Crofts, Conway (should of brought), Orlandi & Buckley. Drop Uallo as he he looks shot. I aways hoped that we would make the play offs, after what happened at the end of last season an pre season, I believed it was never going to be. To finish in the top 10 would be an achievement! taking everything into consideration, but I did expect us to play good football, an that is were I feel let down. I don't want Oscar out, but Nathan Jones, Burke & Day can go for all I care.......UTA

Shots on target is nothing about tactics.
It is about the players technique.
We actually had more shots yesterday than against Blackburn where we scored 3 goals.
Before the game everyone was thinking it was a more attacking line up.

The tactics will help us create chances, but the players ultimately have to put the ball in the net.
Kaz isnt the answer either he has had over 50 shots this year and is yet to score.
