Stephens joins goal of season contenders

The Argus: Dale Stephens curls home against Blackpool Dale Stephens curls home against Blackpool

Dale Stephens has given himself a chance of winning Albion’s goal of the season prize.

His curler versus Blackpool on Easter Monday is the last strike added to the shortlist compiled by the club.

David Lopez has two contenders - a free-kick at Doncaster and his volley to beat Birmingham.

The list also includes Jake Forster-Caskey (at Doncaster), Ashley Barnes (at Bournemouth), Craig Conway (versus Leicester), Solly March (at Port Vale), Leo Ulloa (home to Hull) and Will Buckley (his first at Bolton).

Lol did you give yourself a thumbs down? Crazy people come on here , give a thumbs down , but don't comment !
Conways goal was beautifully crafted, Barnes a touch of class.... Who is judging it? For those that saw the goals at a stadium makes the goal seem better.
Having watched Burnley yesterday , they compete and win nearly every challenge, they get to second ball quickly and break with pace and numbers,
Barnes looked a good centre forward I thought.

Mark on a important note, did you see Burnley boss on it saying he is playing a full strength team at Reading and he said make no mistake there going there to win the game, and he thinks we will get in to the playoffs,

We can only do our job against forest and try to win and get three points whatever happens else were is out off our hands, we could win and so could Reading and Wigan if its meant to be it will happen for us,

I always did like Barnes he would always give his all for the team, our loss burnleys gain I for one wish him all the best for the future.

Barnes never really proved his worth with us. Too many missed chances. I know the rest of the strikers miss loads as well but I always thought Barnes' non-conversion rate was higher than the others. By the way, if I've got nothing to say sometimes I'll just read, digest, consider and then maybe give a thumbs up or down. Those that look and listen learn the most.

He was outstanding at Ipswich , being sold for silly money at 17-18 was bit much for him to handle ..
I really liked that centreback for Blackpool , 18 years of age and a class act.
Player avaiable for loan is Scott Sinclair , man city will loan him out next season, Sinclair won't sign for anyone as he is on 60k a week.

After a difficult season, It is pleasing to be going into the final game still in contention.
For those who say Brighton have under achieved, Our rivals for the last play off place are Wigan & Reading ( both recently from the prem & awash with parachute money).
Reading host Burnley a very difficult final match
If Wigan were to lose away at Birmingham that would bring Blackburn into the equation.
They meet in the final match, a 3 goal win for Blackburn would move them above Wigan.
So let's hope for a win up at Forest then who knows.
Either way, a decent 1st season for OG

Going to be a real talent at 20 years old! Shame we never went for a swap for bridcutt .
You make it sound as if Sunderland suggested a swap and it was on the table and we said no. Ha ha ha

There haven't been many to choose from this season, but Andrew Croft's header for the winner at Wigan was one of the more significant. Maybe not spectacular, but he beat the three defenders who were almost occupying the same space as him, and looped it over the 'keeper.

Interesting and not surprising that the people who truly know because they work day in day out with players, the managers/coaches, all put Ashley Barnes in week after week.

I think he got fed up with those so called supporters who barracked him week after week. We have a chance of becoming a great club when supporters only support!

We have rose tinted glasses when it's a local lad, had Barnes been born in brighton, he would be a " legend'

Wisdom I could not agree more what you wrote about Barnes being heckled by his own fans week in week out, I liked the lad always gave his best good trip on the referee I remember it well I was at that game, away at Burnley hr got a great reception from us fans who was there, he came over and applauded the fans quite emotional night for the lad!!

For me I wil be glad when this season is done and dusted, let us find out what division we will be in next season. What ever the outcome there is a whole lot of work to be done to sort out our squad.
If by chance we get promoted the number of new players we are going to need is in the double figures IMHO. Needing to find so many suitable signings is going to be tough, and these players will need to be lads that OSCAR agrees can get the job done, and for me, that poses a problem.

Our Head Coach came to us with limited knowledge of the English market as a whole, and precious little of the market as it relates to our division. Today I think Oscar is more aware at our level and I would trust his judgement as to who he would want for next year, if we don't go up. Promotion will require Oscar to have a good grasp of the prem level market and whilst I am sure he has some insight, I am not so sure he would have had enough time to, 'know,' the market. Oscar, during the this season, would have been looking at all the divisions in the hope of finding the right players for us, so he would have picked up some info.

I like Oscar and I think he has done a great job so far, and I am pretty sure he will do even better next season if we are still in the Champ Div, but will he have enough about him to build a prem level squad. It is not beyond the realms of possibility that promotion could cost Oscar his job.

Mark on a important note, did you see Burnley boss on it saying he is playing a full strength team at Reading and he said make no mistake there going there to win the game, and he thinks we will get in to the playoffs,
I did , am he sounded sincere, Birmingham need a point at least at home against Wigan, whatever happens it's going to be a nail biter !
I thought Reading were lucky with there pen, Fondre is a expert diver.
The season has been so inconsistant i am thinking forest will stuff three past us Reading and Wigan lose to!
Might do
Might not
Your prediction says most about your mindset, I think.
...if the season is so inconsistant and therefore unpredictable, why go on and predict that outcome?
I was being funny, I honestly don't have any idea ! But we deserve some luck.

I think Barnes was always underated, He could play in any attacking position and always put in a shift defensively too.
Good luck to him, not sure he is prem class but at least you know he will give 100%
Be nice if he could finish the season helping us reach the play offs

Not alot of goals to choose from to be frank - Stephens for me.

Not overly impressed with Barnes while he was with us, but how different could things have been if his shot against Palace in last season's play offs had gone in instead of hitting the bar? Ironic he is now with a premiership club pending their squad selection presumably.

I also thought Dobbie was pretty good on the few outings he had with Brighton. Gus never gave him a chance for some reason. Am amazing result for Blackpool against Wigan.
