ALBION fans will be a bag of nerves at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

They will be in good company, because Jesse Lingard will be feeling exactly the same.

The Seagulls' on-loan Manchester United star has revealed he needs pills before a match to ease the butterflies in his stomach.

Lingard has never experienced anything quite like Albion's challenge for the Championship play-offs.

He took tablets before sealing Friday night's 2-0 win at the Amex against relegated Yeovil.

Lingard told The Argus: "This is like crunch time. This is the only time that it's really mattered. It's a good time for the club.

"I always get nervous before the game, especially leading up to it. I have to take tablets for my nerves.

"I have to get my first touch right in the game and that will settle me down.

"The doc gave me some stomach settling tablets for the nerves. It's all those fans! It's good nerves though."

Hope we can keep him for next season, would be great to have Lingard and Ulloa together for a season, not forgetting a fully fit CMS and Hoskins as back up.

Agree100%. He has improved with us and is a very good player. He is not Man U first team ready just jet. He and his agent would be better off for him to be on a season long lone with us rather than 3 short ones at various clubs.

No club doctor is going to leave either himself, the club or the player open to any comebacks, they have full lists of acceptable medications that comply with sports guidelines.
Strange comment really pte, are you off your medication?

Maybe the whole team could take them before games in order to calm them down when taking corners, free kicks, crosses and shots (Ulloa could pop one the next time he's asked to take a penalty - actually who is our pen taker now? - maybe Lingard himself?).

More seriously not an advocate of pills generally but impressed with Lingard and it would be a coup to secure him for next year.

We need to know what these are Jess, because, come about 1pm on Saturday in Nottingham, we will all be needing them.

What would he be like if he ever has to play in a Champions League Final for Man Utd. Maybe an Elephant tranquiliser would be needed.

Lunatic, for admiring to nerves? I'd be more worried if he didn't have any nerves at all.

I'm not surprised Jesse has to take nerve calming tablets. Can you imagine walking out at the Amex in front of 27k fans and don't forget he's still a youngster so it may take some time for him to get used to the nerves. But nerves are a good thing - I'd be worried if he wasn't nervous.
In the old days players used to have a noggin or two. Those were the days.
