Ward warns: Derby will be switched on

The Argus: Stephen Ward fires in a shot in the first leg Stephen Ward fires in a shot in the first leg

Stephen Ward admits Albion can expect no favours from Derby today.

The Seagulls left-back is friends with some of the Rams squad including their skipper Richard Keogh.

Ward is convinced Derby will not be complacent as they go into the home leg of their play-off semi-final with as 2-1 lead.

He said: “They will be very grounded. I spoke to a few of them afterwards and they were pleased with the result.

“But they knew they were in a tough game (on Thursday).

“The game could have gone either way. It will be similar type of game up there - very tight.

“There won’t be much in it and I think we can take credit from some of our away performances this season.”

Morning boys,

We must not panic on the pitch today looking for that equalizer because Derby will punish any team they play with sloppy passing we must keep our passing simple, quick going forward passing and getting more men in the box when we are in there box, sometimes a bit slow getting a few more players forward to put them under pressure,

my opinion ince has to start today, what would the point having him on the bench if we went one down, if ince is not in the starting eleven we might as well have a more attacking player on the bench, CMS looked full off energy we have to take a chance with him give him a lot more time playing, ten minutes is not enough time, it could but hope not off course last our last game I'm sure the fans who are going to Derby will do the boys proud like we did forest, see you there boys,!!

Up the Albion!!!!

Agree with the CMS selection, Dale Stephen's creativity has been missed, Does he insisting on playing JFC because there really is no other player that would be more effective?
We have to get the first goal this afternoon and then it really will be game on.
Lets see an inspired performance that surprises everybody.
Anyone believe in fate?

Whatever the outcome, it's been a better end to the season than was expected and for that we should be grateful.
OG has done a magnificent job with the resources available and the fact he's managed to steer us to an extended season is to be commended, either way.
Here's hoping Wembley is the final stop, but if not, I won't change my long held view that OG should be celebrated for his skills and we can look forward to an even better season next year. But first things first, we CAN beat Derby today!

An honest belief that it can be done ,and Oscar picking Ince over JFC and CMS given more time ,in other words ,what most of us have advocated from the start ,and we could hurt them badly ,their a big side and play physically ,so use it !,let CMS and Kaz run at their defence ,if we dont create anything ,the likes of Buxton will almost certainly give a pen away ,he proved he hasn`t got the skills to keep Leo quite without giving him the Boston crab . Today we make history .UTA

Yes, I was thinking perhaps Derby might score a couple of own goals just to please us. Did we REALLY think they would do u any favours? CMS/Ince to start, 0-2 sore, 2-1 in extra time v QPR at Wembley !!!!

Got to go for it today imo, no holding back waiting for it to happen, MAKE IT HAPPEN! we need the big man (Ince) to break things up in front of our back 4, width and pace up front to keep their defenders occupied and more players to get in the box, shoot when you get the chance and give their keeper plenty to do, a deflection, a corner, a dropped ball, just go for it and who knows.
Derby will be prepepared yes, but will not take to many risks, it's not in Mcclarens DNA , Cms needs to be unleashed today, the guy is like a pitbull waiting in a cage for the fight to start, start him and when he tires bring on Lingard. 1-3 Albion in extra time.

Has Lingard got to start? It would be a shame if the loan agreement meant that a more inform player coild not play hence weakening the team at such a vital time.

I might sound crazy but I am more optimistic about today's match than I was about the first leg.
We seem to have a knack of getting something from big matches. When we played the better teams in the league, knowing that a point or better was required, for the most pat we got the job done. Reading, QPR, Leicester, six matches which showed a profit, not to mention beating Forest when it was a, 'must.'

We are just one goal down, injuries are going to affect our team selection, 'again,' and there is nothing new about the latter. We, obviously, need to score first, and early enough to go on to get the winner, I would not write us off just yet, if Derby score first, well then we have a mountain to climb.

And the home game with Leicester? Oh, you didn't mention that as it doesn't suit your "argument".
