Forster-Caskey on target as England start with a win

The Argus: Jake Forster-Caskey scored Jake Forster-Caskey scored

Albion's Jake Forster-Caskey was among the scorers as England under-21s beat Qatar 3-0 tonight in their Toulon Tournament opener.

Seagulls prospect Solly March made his England under-21 debut alongside Forster-Caskey in their opening match in France.

Forster-Caskey’s superb 54th-minute strike doubled the lead for Gareth Southgate’s side after Jordan Obita had put England ahead on the half-hour.

Jordan Cousins added the third with the last kick of the game.

JFC had a good game but Qatar just parked the bus so both him and March had good experience of that. Solly had a couple of good runs and set JFC up for what should have been a second for him.
At least they are getting some extra game time.

Yes - on BT. Just to be clear, of course, this is the U-20 side, not the U-21s as trailed by the Argus

Yes it was on BT Sport. Next England game in this tournament is against Brazil on Monday. Cracking goal by JFC tonight and some good runs from March.

The Toulon Tournament is indeed for the U20s. Even The FA have it wrong on this as far as I can make out.

The FA wrong? Surely not? ;0)

Toulon tourny is DEFINITELY U20s, not U21s (that's why Lingard and others are absent despite playing with some of these lads in an U21 friendly a few days ago.

JFC's strike was an unstoppable rocket. Top drawer and laid on by Solly, as was another chance later on. Not the greatest of games but both players acquitted themselves well. Very encouraging. I thought our lads and England as a whole improved in the second half. By the way, England's first goal, scored by Jordan Obita of Reading, was also a stunner.
