Rain wipes out day three of Sussex match

The third day of Sussex's County Championship match with Middlesex at Merchant Taylors' School has been abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The umpires made the decision at 10.30am following heavy overnight rain which had drenched an already saturated outfield.

With further rain forecast throughout the day and again tomorrow the prospects of their being any action in the match look slim.

Obviously not our fault but what a waste of time this has been. It looks very much as though the other 7 Championship matches are all going to end up as draws but there has been a reasonable amount of play in them all so teams have at least got a decent haul of bonus points. There's a very good chance our game won't ever start in which case there will be no bonus points and we'll lose ground.

Weather will probably decide the Championship, what with this and best players rested for England duties no wonder the county game is dying a death financially,do the ECB care,of course not.
