Albion handed home draw

The Argus: Albion and Cheltenham were regular adversaries in League One days Albion and Cheltenham were regular adversaries in League One days

Albion will host League Two side Cheltenham in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

The tie, drawn this morning, will take place in the week commencing August 11.

Albion will look for improved fortunes on the past two campaigns, when they have made first-round exits to lower division opponents.

Two years ago an Alan Navarro debut double against his old club helped send the Seagulls to a shock 3-0 reverse at Swindon.

Last season they let slip an early lead and lost 3-1 in extra-time at home to Newport County.

New boss Sami Hyypia helped Liverpool win the trophy twice as a player, in 2011 and 2003.

Some 3 hours after this article and still no word on the overnight breaking story about Costa Rica midfielder Yeltsin Tejeda. Apparently we have been tracking him for a couple of months and... nothing. Hello Argus, is there anyone there...? Surely someone can get a reaction from the club...!!!

UTA - Can't quite say the same about the Argus although you are right, yes, I could read another paper...

We've got a team we can put out for this fixture.
All we are short of now is a team to play in the League.

Unless we are actually going to try and win it this competition is of little interest. A shame, because of the cup competitions this is the most winnable one.

Bit hard to get excited over this one as I am just about to sit down and watch Brazil V Mexico, esp as we will not go on to win it.

Guessing I will get back into my local team after the final :)

We gone out of the cup in the first round for the last two seasons, I do fancy a cup run in one of cup competitions, but as we don't know has yet what the team is going to look like, it's a case of let wait and see.

The club, I hope will have signed players when training resumes, or soon after, at least the new players will have a month to blend in, and we might have a chase of beating cheltenham.

On the subject of signing players no news of us getting stephen ward , or not getting him as the case may be, I for one hope we do. Also I hear david beckham is thinking of coming out of retirement. We need a creative midfielder ideal job for him, stand in the middle spraying passes around.
Just a thought.
