Crawley have made striker Izale McLeod their seventh signing of the summer.

The 29-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with Reds following his release by MK Dons at the end of last season.

McLeod scored ten goals in 40 games last season for Dons as well as having a brief loan spell at Northampton where he scored once in four appearances.

Boss John Gregory believes McLeod can be the prolific goalscorer Crawley have been missing having worked with him previously at Derby County.

Gregory said: “He’s quick, strong and a lethal finisher. I have worked with him before and know what he is capable of and I'm delighted to welcome him to the club.

“He is a proven goalscorer at this level - something we lacked last season.”

Charlton paid £1.1million for McLeod in August 2007 after he had scored 60 goals in 145 appearances for MK Dons.

Crawley will be his eighth club in the last six years – and his 12th in total - after spells at Colchester, Millwall, Peterborough, Barnet, Portsmouth, MK Dons and Northampton but Gregory is confident he can settle down at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.

Gregory added: “Throughout his career he has scored goals and coming to Crawley, at this stage of his career, is a fresh challenge, which I think he will appreciate.”

McLeod follows Brian Jensen, Ryan Dickson, Lanre Oyebanjo, Jimmy Smith, Sonny Bradley and Gavin Tomlin in joining Reds this summer with Gregory hopeful of adding a further two new faces by the end of the week.

McLeod said: “I had a good chat with the manager John Gregory and he sold the ambition of the club to me really well. It’s almost going to be a new team next season and I am looking forward to being part of it and doing what I know best which is scoring goals.”

Why would JG need to sell the ambition of the club to the 2000(+), more importantly to the glory hunters who waste their money to support all the "big" clubs?
Are you not allowed to have ambition if you are a small club?
