Albion ask about Butland

Albion are showing interest in Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland.

The Seagulls need a replacement for the departed Tomasz Kuszczak and have enquired about Butland.

The England under 21 international would be available on a season-long loan, as Stoke have two experienced keepers in Asmir Begovic and Thomas Sorensen.

Butland, 21, already has plenty of Championship experience following loan spells with former club Birmingham, Barnsley and Leeds.

Agreed MBTS.
Whether or not Butland joins which I hope he does, I like SH's (and Niemi's ?) positive thinking in terms of acquiring a new No1 GK.

Instead of messing around asking tentatively, why not put an offer on the table and sign him up? At last a player of ability, although not as good as he was 2 or 3 years ago available to sign, sounds like he has no future at Stoke, now seize the initiative.

Agree Ward needs to lower his wage demands to what Albion are willing to pay, give him a three year contract no way(my opinion) and the juggling with the sign on fee again no go.

Albion made(what do i know)good offer and he has gone back to wolves.

He is(agent) waiting hoping for more money-other team.

Butland is under contract with Stoke until 2017, he cost them around 4 million so my guess s that they want him to continue his progress so that he is ready for them at the end of the coming season,, if needed, if not then they might have to sell him at a loss.
If he joins us he will be first choice, with Walton at number two IMHO, so as long as Stoke don't want us to pay too much of his wages it would seem like a good deal for all concerned. I guess he could go abroad but with all we have to offer, and us now having a quality goal keeping coach, my guess would be that only costs would stop him from coming to Brighton.

Side issue I know but, I am a tad surprised that we haven't heard of anyone making a move for TK, and I don't mean, anyone in the prem, just anyone.

Think TK for what ever reason went right off the boil in the second half of the season for us. Either other clubs saw this and or his ego had from previous season had got a bit above himself. good for us in his first season but average at best last . Ferguson always had him down as making too many mistakes in the big games at prem level(that said Fergie got though a few keepers in his time for for the success of Schmical/Van der sar there were litterally a dozen failures)
TK level was championship and he would have been better in the long run sticking around us imho.
is it me or am i beginning to think this new management team may just be shaping up quite professionally, some good signings and he new season may just be better than we thought possible.
Even going back to a more all blue shirt, our old promotion and last divison 1 (prem in new money) colours?
Back to the old West stand slow chant ' Come on you blues' may make a return :-)
