Albion cruise to friendly win

The Argus: Gordon Greer scored Gordon Greer scored

Albion’s two Scottish internationals put them on course to beat opponents from north of the border today.

Craig Mackail-Smith and Gordon Greer both netted in the final four minutes of the first half against Partick Thistle.

A 4-0 friendly win was completed by a super second-half finishes from Shamir Fenelon and Charlie Harris.

Neither Leo Ulloa nor Kazenga LuaLua featured in the friendly in Spain.

Reasons were not specified but boss Sami Hyypia had admitted in the run-up to the game that some of his players were suffering muscle issues.

Yeah, except Ulloa's absence is not muscle related it's money related, about £8m of money related absence so I'm hearing.

Expect the Ulloa deal to be finalised this week.

Just returned from a very entertaining game with both teams pushing forward trying to create chances. Lua Lua not playing due to calf strain & Ulloa pulled from squad this morning after a fresh bid of 7.5 million from Leiceister. CMS was partnered up front with Buckley, with CMS looking very lively & as usual covering every blade of grass. Took his goal well with excellent build-up work. Greer's headed goal was well taken with very little Partick could do to stop him. Goal of the game goal 3 scored by Fenlon from an inch perfect cross from Calderon. It would seem that Hyppia's thoughts on being more aggressive in the last 3rd of the pitch has got across to the players. The general play seemed more fluid than last season, with more emphasis on getting the ball forward early.

Really starting to like to the look of Fenelon - great goal tonight. With Ulloa seemingly on his way out Fenelon might be a real asset this season and he cost us nothing. Still need more in terms of numbers but it's great to see so many young players playing tonight - seems like Sammi is going to give them their chance.

Good Omens?
Sounds like we are going in the right direction, you can only beat what is in front of you, and four goals against any professional outfit is still a good result, even a friendly.

so you were at the game but didn't see Ulloa and Kaz sitting watching the game, if the lad had been sold he wouldn't have been there. If he had been pulled so as to keep him safe for a sale, he wouldn't have been there.

True, but vermin generally multiply at a high rate, thus they bring about an infestation and nibble away at what is good. I don't see a lot of difference between trolls/wums and vermin when it comes to what thy are doing to this forum.

He played the 1st 45 minutes worked hard & looked energetic. Other than that hard to tell, as both sets of players seemed to be working there socks off. New recruits are needed as there were to many young development squad players on show. As someone once famous said " you never win games playing kids"

True, but vermin generally multiply at a high rate, thus they bring about an infestation and nibble away at what is good. I don't see a lot of difference between trolls/wums and vermin when it comes to what thy are doing to this forum.
Well then you must stop blanketing this forum with preachings of this and that. It could be considered vermin like.
