Sami Hyypia reckons his ten men could have snatched a draw against Sheffield Wednesday.
But he conceded Albion possibly lacked precision in attack as they lost 1-0 at the Amex today.
The Seagulls played the last 40 minutes without Andrew Crofts, who was sent off.
But Chris O’Grady almost rescued a point on 70 minutes.
Hyypia said: “We lost and it’s not nice to lose but I liked the effort of everyone on the pitch.
“The red card didn’t make it any easier but we kept going and probably deserved the equalising goal.
“It’s like this in football. It doesn’t always go how you want it to go.
“But we can take a lot of positives from this game.
“The effort was there. Maybe in the final third the quality and the precision weren’t always there.”
Hyypia declined to comment on James Linington’s decison to show Crofts a straight red card.
He revealed Solly March would have played but for stiffness in his back.
March failed a fitness test ahead of the match and his place was taken by debutant Shamir Fenelon.
