I thought my shot was heading in, says Albion new boy O'Grady

Chris O'Grady thought this shot was going in

First published in Sport by

Chris O’Grady admits he thought he had scored against his old club.

But he is confident Albion can bounce back from the opening day defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

The debut-making striker was denied by Kieren Westwood’s save as the Seagulls sought to avert a 1-0 reverse on Saturday.

O’Grady, who hopes to play against Cheltenham tomorrow, said: “I thought I had scored.

“It happened very quickly. I thought I did all the right things and put it in the corner but his top hand got to it and tipped it around the post.

“I was gutted. That was our chance to get back into it.

“But the result wasn’t a reflection of how we played.”

Wolves have agreed a fee for Chris wood from Leicester...so there goes another potential replacement for ulloa....this is going to be a long hard relegation battle this season...I know its only one game old but how can you sell the core of your team and expect to be competitive....? I won't be going again till there's some hope..and selling Buckley is the final straw...if he goes.

Have you heard yourself you won't be going until there is some hope, well don't go at all then, as for Buckley if we sold him for a good profit let him leave he is always injured, let warm someone else's treatment table,
Get a grip mate.
Up the Albion!!

I Like O-G's comments, he seems pretty honest. I'd like to see him get some in, the two chances he had here didn't come off but given some more match time and he could break his point scoring duck, dispelling the nerves and getting the crowd behind him, boosting his confidence for more goal chances! Up the Albion!!

I thought Chris's debut showed promise. Unlucky not to score and showed great potential. Like his honesty.
We had no luck whereas Weds had one chance and took it when the ref failed to do his job.
And the negative posters on here are better off staying away. We can do without them.

Whether people choose to highlight the positive or the negative is immaterial. The fact remains, we have sold on our best players and not brought in anything to compare with last years squad at that under Poyet.
Such negative floundering by the board ( for the third year running) is certain to cause some ( myself included) to post comments that are less than complimentary.
On the day we were very poor. To see anything else from the game we lost against a league one outfit if to be Se'gullable' 😏

I just don't want to pay a lot for a season ticket to watch a load of D's players get relegated..why build the club to ruin it with a fire sale?

Why do people on here think it is the clubs fault when players are transferred for a great fee to PL clubs? If each of you were offered more money to do your job somewhere else, with your agent nagging at you to take the deal, how many would turn it down? How would it be your current employers fault? Get a grip please. TB is not going to watch his £150+ mil investment drift down the league. New players are coming in, it is just taking more time that anyone on here would like. A bit of patience and thought please.
