McCoist speaks out over Albion link

First published in Sport by

Rangers boss Ally McCoist today confirmed his club have had no contact from Albion for his star player.

The Seagulls have been linked with highly-rated Lee Wallace, an athletic and attack-minded left-back.

The Argus reported today that Rangers were unaware of any interest from Albion.

Now McCoist has spoken out in a bid to pour cold water over talk of a move for his prized asset.

Speaking via Rangers' official website, McCoist said: “Lee is a very important player to us.

“We’ve had absolutely no contact from Brighton and Hove Albion at all and no, I don’t expect him to go.

“I’d be hopeful as manager of the club that we can keep our best players and Lee certainly falls into that category.”

If only the Albion spoke the same language as Ally McCoist. Something about keeping our best players?
We probably couldn't afford him anyway. UTA

It is obvious that there has been a misunderstanding in the Scottish/English conversation,it was McCoist we were interested in

There is no smoke without fire so I would suggest that there is some dialogue above McCoists head, however is this what we have come to, sniffing around Scottish Second Div players? He may well be one of Rangers stars but that most certainly doesn't mean he will be up to English Championship level. We might as well start looking at Conference South as there are probably one or two nice prospects down the road at Whitehawk.

Hes a good player and to be fair rangers are really Scottish premier (only their financial misdemenours which got the relegated) and he is def championship quality.

Is this yet ANOTHER red herring???
FYI guys and gals--I have written long e-mail to our club highlighting our concerns and suggesting that this coming season is just another building season and the money received for outgoing players is only going to be used to reduce our debt?? Also for them to take time to read a cross section of our comments that gives a general feeling of concern amongst us. Asked also if a statement could be made as to current state of play with players coming in---something I know they generally do not do, but one can try. Doubtful I will get a response, BUT if I do I will post.

'Don't you think your expecting a bit too much' said the reporter
'Well Tony started it ' replied Paul .

Very good post.
At least we seem to be keeping our sense of humour! But for how long?

Brighton do their negotiations in private. Didn't we have the same with Ward? I know the deal has not yet been done, but Brighton was in negotiation when Jacket was saying no approach has been made. Keep the faith!

The problem is we are not 'building' anything! Bloom is clearly holding on to the dough and taking into account the players who have gone and bringing in in the likes of COG and possibly McCourt is , with respect to them, just a holding position for the club - it's hardly reaching for the stars!!

Why would he do this? Is he a fool? He has invested £150+ mil into this club. What would make him want to devalue this? I'm sorry, but we have to be patient. How do any of us know what Sammi has requested of the board? He may well have a list of players that Brighton are chasing now. He will want to get a team together that can play the way he wants to. Our squad over the last 2 years has been nearly good enough. Nearly. Bloom will want a squad that is good enough. Why wouldn't he?
