Hyypia praise as Albion win away

Sami Hyypia at Leeds tonight

Sami Hyypia at Leeds tonight

First published in Sport by

Sami Hyypia saluted his side’s slick first-half display at Leeds tonight.

And the Albion boss was also delighted to see them dig in after the break to finish the job.

Joao Teixeira put Albion on course for a 2-0 win at Leeds with an early goal.

Kazenga LuaLua added an 84th-minute free-kick after the Seagulls had quelled their hosts’ efforts to get back into the game.

Boss Hyypia said: “I thought the first half was brilliant. All credit to the team.

“We played very quickly, we could find the free man every time.

“We were dangerous attacking so I am very pleased with the first-half performance.

“The second half was a typical Championship game.

“You need to win the battle to win games.”

Hopefully this is not a flash in the pan and a sign of the team finding some form and getting used to new systems.

We are not out of the woods yet but I can certainly start to see a little light. A great performance this evening.

I'm looking forward to the day when the middle 3 that start are Stevens, Holla and McCourt.... Energy, skill and some steel.

Only 3 players away now. Looking forward to a new LB and a couple of strikers to hopefully sign. I'd like to see Solly kept too.

Dunk sounded immense tonight... Here's hoping that this is the season where he cements his place in the starting 11. I have high hopes.

We win our first match of the season, and a good win at that, yet very few comments, now why is that?
Had we got beaten there would have been 50 comments posted on each of the threads, but I guess a win doesn't sit well with all the, 'false,' fans.

Yeah, that really is a bummer. I too was hoping we'd snag him for a loan. If Bolton do get him, Letts hope its after Saturday.

Not really hard to work out this game was about Teixeira & Holla being outstanding, and poor Leeds looking like they are bang in trouble. On another good note Dunk did nothing wrong but then again he will never get a more easy night Leeds had nothing.I thought Holla looked a top player but JFC & CMS i thought both had very poor games once again. We are still gona need a top class LB and forward if we are gona have any chance of a top six finish again.Boy did Leeds look bad.

The club sign this Dutch guy on a 3 year deal and admits its unfit but they don't even ask for a medical before it signs lol haha. What other pro-club would do this?

How does that humble pie taste PWU? If you engage brain before spouting out your bile you might notice that Holla PASSED HIS MEDICAL but wasn't expected to be fully match fit. Big difference as much of the latter can be overcome with a bit of adrenalin and a positive attitude... but then how would you know anything about that?!!

Well done the lads. Top performance by all accounts. Maybe our signings are starting to look good now. Roll on Saturday and three points at home.

I will readily admit I was in with the 70 per cent who thought it would be another defeat but could not be more delighted with the result. Looking forward to Saturday now we have broken our duck in terms of scoring and result.

I wish CMS would get a goal I just know that would turn the corner for him and we would get the best out of player who has not been used to the best of his ability. Come on Macca we believe in you!!

Gonna miss the Bolton game this Saturday wanted to be there and cheer the lads on against Freedmans outfit. I remember two seasons ago giving Bolton a total footballing lesson only to see tham nick a point in the last seconds. Probably the best performance from a Brighton side I can remember. Holla sounds a real find, better all round than Clayton and on a free, well done all involved in pulling that one off. Tex already making more of an impact than Lingard another real positive, mystery left back today, suddenly it's looking a whole lot better.

Morning I was at the game last night, some say we only beat Leeds because they where poor WRONG, we beat them because played them off the park with nice controlled slick passing, not going backwards but nice one touch football trying to get at them with pace, that first half performance was the best performance I had witnessed in years, the who team where outstanding the new lads looked like they had been in our team for years not one game great additions, any doubters out there who wrote us off before the game kicked off that win was for the people who turned up to sing there heads off for 90 mins to support the boys,

Ever wonder how Adam Chicksen feels as he reads these threads. Not one post here giving him credit for yet another good display. No, we're far happier with our relentless quest for another LB. Higher up on the priority list must surely be another striker. CMS and COG appear to be having a bit of trouble finding the net.
All in all a very encouraging display and congratulations to all concerned, especially Adam Chicksen. I feel far happier this morning as an Albion fan rather than one supporting Leeds who look from this form to be in serious trouble.
