What changes would you make against Bolton?

Sami Hyypia has a few things to think about

First published in Sport

Sami Hyypia struck on a winning formula at Leeds – but nothing is ever straightforward.

Albion have lost Kemy Agustien to a twisted ankle suffered at Elland Road as they prepare to face Bolton today.

But they have two new options in on-loan left-back Joe Bennett, signed from Aston Villa this week, and midfielder Andrew Crofts, now free of suspension.

So what would you do in Hyppia’s place as you plot to extend the Trotters' poor start to the season?

Would you do what he did during the second half at Leeds and replace Agustien with Kazenga LuaLua?

Does Bennett start? Does Aaron Hughes come back into defence?

Do you change formation a little?

Paddy McCourt believes he is not yet ready for 90 minutes. But do you start him anyway?

There is plenty to discuss ahead of the second home league game of the season.

So how would you line up against Bolton if you were in the hot seat?

Just the replacement of kemi with crofts!he should be chomping at the bit after missing 3 games.
Plenty of good options on the bench if it's not going our way.

I would keep Lua Lua as sub. He's getting a reputation as an impact sub for the last half hour when defenders are getting tired. He always looks better coming on late then when he starts. This is a very important role though.

After that fantastic performance against leeds I am absolutely certain SH will select the right starting lineup to beat Bolton today. I am really hoping to see paddy McCourt get some playing time today tho. At last the squad are now really fighting for places which can only be good for us all. UTA

Morning, Jake has not done anything wrong to warrant to be dropped, if you was at the Leeds game like I was you would off seen he put a shift in like everyone else that night, so I disagree on that one,
Up the Albion!!

Crofts in and then as it was... The bench has got to be strong enough and flexible enough to adapt to any eventuality. Joe Bennett cannot expect to come straight in - he has to earn that spot, he cannot rely on reputation, he hasn't got one. I'm backing Adam Chicksen to make him sweat for a while... UTA

Agree on the Chicksen position, Jfc is struggling with the new system imo and Crofts for Kemy is a no brainer, as long as Crofts keeps his head!
A great win against Leeds, but they were extremely poor, we have back to back home league games with Swindon away in between, if we go into September unbeaten with possibly 4 consecutive wins under the belt, the system will be proven to work and we can all chill for the season, draws at home like last season will only upset things again imo. Feeling positive again but it needs the back up of that good home win in front of a packed house to seal that feeling. UTA and let's make some noise!

We know from his previous comments that Kaz is not entirely happy with being seen as an impact sub but if he could only relish that spot he would get even better. A case of "right, move over boys, now it's MY turn. Here we go!" And he takes the defence apart etc....... We've all seen it and it's great to watch. At the risk of upsetting him I'd keep him on the bench to do that job. Can't say I agree with Jeff over JFC as I'd like to see him replaced by PM for his first game time.
Apart from that.....move over Bolton!

The LuaLua thing is one that leaves us all baffled, sub or a starter? Last season he played a couple of games from the start back to back and looked good, then he had his knee op and didn't get the chance to get going again, but that was on the left wing, not central like Hyppia has him playing at the moment. I would like to see him back on the left wing position and given a start just to see, and with the improving Chicksen overlapping, two players with pace that could form a frightening partnership on the left!

Would love to see McCourt but reason tells me Crofts will start. Otherwise, as you were. I don't think we should drop Chicksen for Bennett at this stage, and Dunk should play today after a good performance at Leeds.

Maybe Chicksen can't keep Bennett out but while he's playing well give him a run to develop him into a genuine option and don't drop him just as he's getting his confidence as it might take another few games to get it back. You want a player that can step in when needed. That way you have competition for left back with each being under pressure to perform
