Gary Gardner and fellow new signing Paddy McCourt have got something in common.

They have both left their calling card at the Amex before signing for the Seagulls.

McCourt, who agreed a one-year deal a week ago, scored for Barnsley in a 2-1 win at the stadium last season.

Gardner, who joined Albion on loan today, headed home into the same North Stand goal for Coventry City almost three years ago.

He ran on to an inviting cross from Cyrus Christie to beat Casper Ankergren in style nine minutes into his Sky Blues debut.

Gardner had joined on loan from Aston Villa two days previously.

But Romain Vincelot produced an even better header at the other end to give Gus Poyet’s men a 2-1 win.

That proved to be Gardner's only goal in four games for Coventry.

I see that Walton is playing for the under 21's against Middlesborough today, shame, I would like to have seen him have a run out against Swindon this evening.

Remember the goal very well, another good player, can't see JFC starting many games and a place on the bench might be doubtful. The end for Kemmy also?

Don't know the length of current contracts on these loanees, but they are fringe Villa first team players that we might just pick up on the cheap permanently :-)

He's a 6ft 2 lad who can head goals. Sami obviously looking for goals from all over the park to replace the 20 or so Leo may have scored, plus CMS, poss Baldock signing we could have many goals in us. Could be a very interesting season with far more steel than we had under Gus and Oscar.

More fantastic news! Welcome back to the Amex Gary. Feel free to add to your goal tally any time you like now!

Remember when these columns were filled with doom and gloom, pessimism and forecasts of either a relegation battle or instant relegation? Remember the endless calls for the heads of Burke, Barber and even Bloom because they "don't know what they're doing"? Trolls and WUMs can **** off now and those who allowed themselves to be drawn down to their level can hang their heads in shame. So good to see Bloom's promise being delivered so masterfully. Congratulations to all those involved in reforming our squad with so much strength in depth.

Who can doubt now that the Albion will be right up there at the end of the season?

UTA!!

Hi Bro.
With Ankergren as our #2 keeper it makes sense for Walton not to play tonight, if Ank was suddenly needed for league matches the sharper he is the better. Chances are come next season Walton will be our #2.

Hmmm. If they perform well Vila will want them back and if they don't we won't want them i suspect. Let's enjoy them while we have them . Great additions though and potentially more to come! What a difference a few days makes. Patience is indeed a virtue!
