Former Norwich, Birmingham and Newcastle boss Chris Hughton has been named as Albion’s new manager, replacing Sami Hyypia at the Amex following the Finn’s resignation three days before Christmas.
Here are 10 things you may not know about Albion's new boss:
- Born in Forest Gate, ten minutes from West Ham's Upton Park
- Shares the same birthdate (11-12-58) as movie director Tom Shadyac, of Ace Ventura and The Nutty Professor fame
- First left-back to manage Albion since Micky Adams
- Qualified to play for Republic of Ireland through mother (father is from Ghana)
- Two-time winner of the FA Cup with Tottenham 1981 and 1982
- Trained as a lift engineer before signing for Spurs
- Married to Cheryl, with two daughters and two sons
- Went to the same school as Jermain Defoe
- Chris Powell (Huddersfield) the only other black manager in top two flights of English football
- Agent is the appropriately named Rob Segal
