Dean Wilkins believes Albion's travelling army can play a key role in his side's fight for League One survival.

The Seagulls are guaranteed plenty of support at next-to-bottom Brentford on Saturday and at fifth-bottom Leyton Orient next Tuesday night.

Only Scunthorpe have won more matches away from home and, with the fans behind them, Wilkins and his players are looking up rather than down.

The boss said: "We've won more games away than at home, so that would suggest we have got a better chance of winning.

"Plus, with both games being fairly local, our away support has been absolutely phenomenal.

"I think they have played a big part in helping us get the sort of results we have away from home.

"It's interesting that a couple of players pointed out we are two points off mid-table, which is exactly how we want them to be looking at it. We are still looking ahead of us, rather than behind us."

Albion are only four points above the drop zone and have scored just once in seven games but Wilkins was encouraged by a third clean sheet in the League in succession in the goalless home draw against Rotherham.

"The positive from Saturday was that again we looked pretty solid defensively," he said. "I cannot remember them causing us too many problems.

"As long as we maintain that solidity I am still absolutely certain that once we score once in a game we can go on and score two or three. It is scoring that first goal.

"I took the front players yesterday and we worked on anticipation and movement in and around the box.

"The finishing actually in training was excellent, it's just transferring that mentality from midweek into a game."

Striker Kabba Samura will not be featuring for the Reserves again against Bournemouth at Worthing tomorrow night (7pm).

He has returned to Sweden after a two-match trial.
